The Prattville High School Girls Soccer team continued their play in the Southern Shootout in Fairhope on Saturday morning February 19th against Spanish Fort. The Lady Lions were in for another defensive struggle against the much larger Spanish Fort team. Despite being slightly lethargic from playing their third tough game in 16 hours, they were able to pull out the win with a 1-0 victory over Spanish Fort. Summer Mooney scored her second goal in as many games with a rocket from just inside the penalty box. Her goal came in the 23rd minute of the game and was assisted by Hannah Godwin. Crystal Vela had two shots, Summer Mooney had two more shots in the second half, and Shayla McWhorter had a shot in the victory. The defensive backline of Shayla McWhorter, Ally Doty, Meri-Margaret Fank, Lauren O’Brian and Sydney Smith ensured Spanish Fort did not get any good chances. Daniele Ewert won her second game of the season and made 9 saves including an incredible diving save in the 65th minute. The Lady Lions are now 2-0-2. The Lady Lions had 21 points at the end of game three of the Southern Shootout and were firmly in second place. Their final game of the Shootout occurred later that day at 2:30 pm against host Fairhope.
